Tom Kimbell

Tom started his career at Terry Farrells working on the MI6 headquarters before a six year posting to Hong Kong working mainly on Kowloon Station, a major transport interchange hub. As a director of Acanthus Architects Tom gained great experience leading design teams especially in infrastructure and rail projects, including the design of Haggerston station, Pudding Mill Lane DLR station and Knightsbridge station modernisation. Tom led the residential team and his housing experience includes the role of design team leader on several high density prestigious mixed use schemes in London. Experience in the education sector includes new build and remodelling projects for primary and secondary schools of different scales.

Other experience includes the concept design of new stations in Wuxi, China, a role as Buro Happold’s architectural consultant in Riyadh and as a project manager at Foster and Partners working on flagship Apple stores.

Following 30 years of experience in practice, Tom set up Kimbell Pike with Steve Pike to offer a personal service to clients on smaller bespoke projects driven by a desire to find excellence and innovation in design.
